Wendy Watts

Senior Counsel for General Counsel Program

Wendy Watts (she/her/hers) is Senior Counsel for the General Counsel Program. Wendy began her legal career in private practice, representing clients in a variety of matters including criminal defense, family law, and child protective services, before moving in-house. Wendy comes to the Lawyering Project from the animal protection movement where she served as Vice President, Legal and General Counsel of The Humane League, a global animal protection nonprofit organization, and as General Counsel of the Animal Legal Defense Fund, which works to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. Wendy received a J.D. from Campbell University School of Law and a B.A. from Duke University.

Wendy is licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
