Tanya Pellegrini (she/her/hers) is Senior Counsel. She came to the Lawyering Project from MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund), where she litigated civil rights and constitutional law impact litigation cases in several practice areas, including voting rights, immigrant rights, and employment. While at MALDEF, Tanya represented Latino voters in the case of Luna v. County of Kern, which successfully challenged the use of racially gerrymandered district boundaries for the election of the Board of Supervisors in Kern County, California. She also worked on MALDEF’s legal challenge to the addition of the citizenship question to the 2020 decennial Census. Tanya is a graduate of the University of California Law San Francisco, and University of California, Santa Barbara.
