Mashayla Hays

Legal Counsel

Mashayla Hays (she/they) is Legal Counsel. Mashayla has dedicated their career advocating for reproductive justice policies, specifically maternal health. Mashayla received their bachelor’s degree in Pan-African Studies and J.D. from the University of Louisville and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University. Before joining the Lawyering Project, Mashayla was a Legal Fellow with the ACLU of Kentucky and an If/When/How Reproductive Justice Fellow for the Women’s Law Project and New Voices for Reproductive Justice. She currently sits as the Vice President on the Kentucky Health Justice Network (KHJN) Board and spends her free time reading and volunteering with Central High School’s Law & Government (her alma mater).

Mashayla is licensed to practice law in Kentucky.
